Wear your clothes (more)
Hello!
Welcome to the second week of the Sustainable Style Club!
Yes I did see dolphins (and perhaps a whale!) on my run this morning and it reminded me why the need for change is immediate and urgent – the fashion industry must change and we can each make a difference!
So now onto clothes…
This week we start to unpack a key concept, one that we will revisit often, and one that *feels* beyond our control.
The average woman wears 20% of her clothes 80% of the time.
Think about that for a moment. You open your closet or drawers…and put on the *same* clothes 80% of the time. And then you feel tired of your clothes so you click on those ads offering you new options, instead of reaching for clothes already in your closet.
We all do it. We are products of our environment. We are seeped in a consumerist society that tells us we need NEW! MORE! NOW!
How do we create change? We bring consciousness into our closet. We pause, think and reflect before clicking ‘purchase’.
This week I challenge you to observe all the times you feel bored with your clothes – then dig a little deeper into your closet to see if there is a lovely piece waiting for you. I guarantee you’ll find something you haven’t worn recently that will make you feel even better than a *new* piece would!
I would love to hear what you find! And if you need help creating an outfit with that rediscovered piece, don’t forget to schedule your virtual styling time!
