Sharing my brand list
Hi there!
I hope your week is going well. I hope, too, that you shopped mindfully and strategically during the Black Friday and Cyber Monday – and most importantly the Small Business Saturday – events of the past week.
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that I was quiet during these seemingly worldwide shopping events. Seems counterintuitive – a stylist not shopping?
Here’s my thinking:
I have my own Style Summary, my own Shopping List and my own goals around my wardrobe. I do not feel pressure to buy something just because it is on sale.
I do take advantage of sales to buy pieces that are on my shopping list – but only when I’m ready to buy something.
I have changed how and when I shop so that I don’t feel like I *need* to shop for an event or because others are shopping.
We will explore how I arrived at this peaceful place over the coming months.
In the meantime, several of you have asked for my brand recommendations. I don’t often recommend brands to the masses because, similar to the above thinking, I believe that we should shop brands that align with our individual Style Summary – brands that match our values and that make clothes that we *love* to wear – something that is different for each person. However, I recognize that it is helpful to be pointed in a direction with regard to brands…so today, I’m sharing some of the brands I love (and discount codes).
Over the years, my style has evolved and I’m committed not only to sustainability but also to quality. Many of the brands below are small businesses and some of them are bigger ‘independent’ brands who are thinking outside the box and are making pieces that will not only delight and inspire us to be our best selves, but that also will last. Let’s be reminded that the most sustainable way to manage our closets is to shop and buy less, and wear our garments for longer.
I’m always on the hunt for new brands so send your favorite small and independent brands my way!
Until next week,
Kevin xo
